Croydon Presents
An exhibition of Croydon’s theatres, performance and people
Museum of croydon exhibition: 30 September 2022 - 13 January 2023
Theatre and live performances allow us to experience different perspectives, things we might be unaware of, things we have not even thought about. Live shows help us understand ourselves and what it means to be human. They help us discover something new about ourselves, about the world around us. We empathise. We change our attitudes towards others. We connect - not only to the performers on stage but also to the audience experiencing it with us in the same space. Participation connects us to a community.
Through this project, I wanted to showcase the diversity and wealth of the local talent in the borough. I feel that I only managed to scratch the surfaces and there is plenty more to discovermin the area. I believe that we need to show the importance of live performances. Theatre, drama and dance encourage thinking and play a key part in education, and students who participate in theatre do better in school.
